Green it Up

Summer is here...have you been paying your landscaping any attention?

Here we are talking about some helpful tips to make sure you are in tip-top shape (as well as some local landscape designers that are more than happy to lend a hand).  When listing a home for sale, or simply want to enjoy your gardens to the fullest, here are some things to keep in mind.

GRASS

If you are looking for a water-saving alternative, look no further than EcoLawn. Turf has come quite a way over the past few years with so many more options and realistic-looking choices that you and your family will thoroughly enjoy.

Or, if you are putting your home on the market and have a few weeks to prep, take advantage of that time to seed and fertilize it. That way, once it is time to market the property, your lawn is green, lush, and photo-ready. And let’s be honest, pets have become very important members of our families, and what better way to show off your home than a perfect display or outdoor activity room.

PATHWAYS

California Gold Gravel is a hit in our lovely SB town and is the perfect alternative to grass if looking to tone back that water bill. Using gravel is generally an easy and cost-effective way to tidy up an outdoor space and adds a polished finishing touch.

ROSES

Did you remember to have your roses pruned? If not, time to start a health care regime for your buds. Climbing vines, such as Cecile Brunner’s are an incredible addition to cover fences or chain links, but they are not always low maintenance. WORTH IT!

FIRE PITS

These sure are a highlight these days, especially for the entertainers. If you have space, these are certainly marketable items.  Highly recommended, and can be a cost-effective way to fill a space. I am also seeing that it draws the crowds outdoors to spaces that would otherwise be ignored.

PATIO FURNITURE

From World Market to McKinnon & Harris. Furniture can set the tone in your outdoor living space. It is the final piece to the puzzle and can make or break a space. Furniture collections can inspire and create memories of great times spent with family and friends while enjoying the outdoors.

Recently just published her first book Small Garden Style with writer Jennifer Blaise Kramer is known for her colorful drought-tolerant creativity.
